Walking with Jesus at St Mary’s

Our Liturgical Season is: Lent

Living Our Lives As Jesus Taught Us

Whole year list of events 23.24

The Metanoia Project, also known as ‘Seekers’, is a youth group where children can explore their faith in a relaxed, safe and fun environment. Each week has a theme and there will be games, activities to explore the theme, prayer time and a small snack. Your child does not need to be Catholic to attend – all are welcome!

Children who attend St Mary’s Lea Town (Years 4, 5 and 6) can come straight to ‘Seekers’ after school, some of the Metanoia Team will collect them from school and walk them across. Parents will then need to collect their children from the church hall at 5pm. Click the Metanoia Logo to find out more information.

The Wednesday Word outreach is based in evangelisation and shares the Gospel in a new way.

The outreach aims to help all school families draw closer to God, to the Church and to each other. The Wednesday Word particularly seeks to reach the majority of parents (which statistics tell us are often more than 80% in many schools) who do not hear the Gospel read in church or read the Bible together.

The primary school version of The Wednesday Word is a beautifully produced resource (with imprimatur) consisting of high-quality Sunday Gospel leaflets and booklets which carry the Sunday Gospel into school family homes.

Marian Week – Mother of our School

Class 1 painted a picture of their Mum or Grandma and said why they thought they were special to them.

Class 2 learnt and sang a hymn as a class and performed it for their parents and special visitors.

Class 3 wrote their own prayers to Mary, the Mother of Our School (here is a sample of some of them).

Class 4 wrote, created and performed a short play, as well as showing their Marian paintings.

On the final day of our celebrations, we all took flowers across to Church, said prayers with the Sisters and Deacon John and looked at the Monstrance, as well as wearing something blue to celebrate Mary.

Raising Money for the flood victims in Pakistan.

We prayed for all affected in the Pakistan floods and I have consulted our Prayer monitors, who have sought the views of all classes in seeking a fundraising opportunity. To help support the people in Pakistan after the terrible flooding that has taken place recently, St Mary’s rallied around and organised a PJ day, with all money going towards helping the flood victims.

Praying the Rosary

This week we joined over 1 million other children from around the world to Pray the Rory for Peace! We were joined by our special guests Mrs Fitzpatrick and the Sisters from St Mary’s Church.
