Welcome to Class Two!
Our topic this half term is seasonal changes-Seasonal Changes
In our class we have Year One and Year Two children. We love to learn and have fun at the same time. Your class teacher is Mrs Sullivan. The Teaching Assistants in the class are Mrs Nayler and Miss Strahand who work with us everyday. We have growth mindsets and know it is important to always try our best and it is ok to make mistakes, this is all part of being EAT learners. We enjoy our learning and have lots of opportunity to learn through games and practical resources as well as learning using the outdoor space. We are looking forward to a very exciting year with lots of new topics to explore!
Here are some useful key points about Class Two:
- Drinks and snacks – Children in Class Two can get a piece of fruit and a carton of milk at play time each day. However, you may wish to provide your child with another healthy snack for playtime. Your child can also bring a drink of water to school. Water bottles are kept in the classroom so that the children can get a drink whenever they need one.
- PE kits – PE lessons start this week, so please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school. Each item in their kit should be labelled clearly with their name. As the weather gets cooler please send some navy tracksuit bottoms.
- Reading – Children must read five times a week for 15 minutes. Books should be returned to school on a Monday and will be changed on this day.
- Forest school- The children have a forest school session every Friday morning. Please send your child into school wearing plain black/navy active wear, school hoodie and trainers. We ask that you send your child’s wellies and puddles suits/waterproofs into school at the beginning of each half term to be stored in school. please ensure all forest school clothing is clearly labelled.
Class 2 homework:
Phonics – Each week we will focus on different sounds and spelling rules. We will let you know the sounds/spelling patterns that we are learning so that you can practise these with your child at home.
Spelling – Each week we have a spelling test. The words will be put in your child’s book bag at the beginning of the week and spelling test is on a Friday. Once your child’s spelling words are sent home please keep these at home.
High Frequency Words – Your child may be given some flashcards to practise at home. They need to be able to read these words on sight.
Homework Books – Homework tasks will be put in your child’s book each week on Thursdays and these must be completed and returned by the following Wednesday.
